This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic medical leadership within pan-European medical affairs functions. The position includes responsibilities such as engaging with experts in the field, supporting clinical evidence projects (including studies on clinical value, real-world outcomes, investigator-driven research, and national registries), conducting and interpreting scientific analyses, overseeing publication efforts, facilitating medical education sessions, shaping clinical guidelines, and contributing to strategies that support product access and reimbursement.

The Medical Affairs Director will develop and implement the regional medical strategy, ensuring alignment with international objectives and annual targets.

Core Duties and Functions

* Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with influential leaders, payers, clinical guideline groups, and patient advocacy organizations, in line with the objectives of development projects.
* Design and roll out clinician education programs in partnership with cross-functional groups, consistent with global medical initiatives.
* Work with commercial and market access teams to formulate and implement strategies that advance the recognition and reimbursement of key offerings throughout Europe.
* Lead evidence generation activities, including real-world data projects, to support clinical, business, and access objectives.
* Serve as a point of contact for professional societies and advocacy organizations related to disease areas.
* Contribute to business case development for expansion within Europe, gathering insights from scientific leaders and stakeholders and analyzing clinical and market factors.
* Demonstrate strong collaboration skills within internal and external contexts.
* Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant scientific and competitive landscapes, sharing updates with stakeholders.
* Guide, train, and oversee the European medical affairs team, promoting science‑based excellence, adherence to regulations, and effective partnership across functions.
* Set and monitor key performance indicators for medical affairs efforts, including expert engagement, progress in evidence generation, and milestones in access, reporting outcomes to both global and regional leadership.
* Perform any other relevant tasks as needed.


Required Qualifications

* Educational: Bachelor’s degree plus 15 years’ related experience, Master’s degree plus 12 years’ related experience, or a doctorate (PhD/PharmD) plus 8 years’ experience in medical affairs within the life sciences sector.
* Terminal degree is preferred.
* Minimum of 4 years’ leadership experience in medical affairs (e.g., Medical Director or Liaison) within pharmaceutical, diagnostics, biotechnology, or clinical settings.
* Specialized knowledge in hematology, oncology, and multiple myeloma is highly valued.
* Proven success in establishing relationships with influential leaders, navigating institutional connections, working with health technology assessment bodies and payers, and managing field‑based staff.
* Command of English (spoken and written) is essential; additional European languages are advantageous.
* Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact across multiple functions.
* Professional certification in hematology or oncology is optional, but considered a plus.
* The role is based in Europe and requires frequent travel (approximating 25–50%) to priority European regions, organization headquarters (US), and international conferences or scientific events.
