About AllianzGI's Private Markets Business
Allianz Global Investors ("AllianzGI"), a leading active asset manager with over EUR 97bn* of assets under management in private markets, serves both Allianz and further institutional investors. Our private markets business extends to a broad range of sophisticated investors with innovative solutions across the fields of infrastructure – debt, equity and secondaries – as well as private credit – be that direct lending, indirect or trade finance.
Role scope
The position can be based in Frankfurt, Munich or Luxembourg and you will work independently and alongside our investment teams in Munich, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Paris, London, New York and Singapore as well as with other departments across AllianzGI's private markets business.
The role involves providing legal support to the AllianzGI private credit business, covering our various debt strategies (Infrastructure Debt, European Private Credit, Asia Private Credit, Impact Private Credit, Development Finance and Trade Finance).
You Will Have a Particular Focus On
Structuring and setting up private credit investment funds in Luxembourg and other jurisdictions, taking into account legal, tax and regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in setting up these structures and in negotiating and agreeing fund documents with our investors
Drafting and advising on investment management and advisory agreements for the private credit strategies of AllianzGI
Advising on debt investments entered into by our private markets funds and segregated accounts
Providing ongoing legal/regulatory advice on all issues relating to investment products managed or advised by AllianzGI
Collaborate seamlessly with other internal stakeholders across our private markets platform, including investment teams, risk, compliance, operations, tax, sustainability, and finance teams
Requirement/knowledge/experience
Fully qualified lawyer (either English, German or Luxembourg law) with experience at an international law firm or legal department of an asset manager
Comfortable handling a role with a broad remit – the role is unique in that it provides exposure to both fund structuring and investments. We are open to receiving applications either from lawyers with a funds background or a debt finance background, provided you are comfortable with the broad nature of the role and embrace the learning opportunities offered by this role
At least four years of professional experience as a qualified lawyer, having gained significant experience of private markets funds or international debt finance advisory work where you have experience of leading your own transactions and managing all relevant stakeholders
Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both with internal and external stakeholders
Comfortable working autonomously with significant ownership and individual responsibility for your matters whilst also ensuring regular communication with your management and wider team on critical topics
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with all counterparties across the value chain, driving and fostering teamwork
Comfortable and thrive working in an international working environment where the main stakeholders you work with may not be sitting next to you
Learning agility and keen interest in following policy, legal and regulatory developments relevant for the business
Experience with German regulated investor requirements (in private markets funds) is an advantage
