Role Overview
We are seeking a practical, hands-on engineer with strong expertise in mechatronics to contribute to the design, optimisation, and dependability of production systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. This position is centred on the technical advancement and ongoing enhancement of manufacturing equipment and overall system architecture.
In addition, you will be actively involved in the setup and commissioning of new production lines, as well as providing technical guidance and oversight when engaging with external Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs).
Key Responsibilities
* Support ongoing improvement of production systems, with emphasis on mechatronic elements and software, working collaboratively in a structured way with internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners
* Act as the technical authority for the production system software/codebase, maintaining system performance while ensuring issues are quickly identified, analysed, and resolved
* Review, develop, and implement equipment improvements or upgrades aimed at increasing efficiency, reliability, and ease of maintenance
* Assist in the commissioning, qualification, and technical validation of new production facilities and manufacturing lines
* Work closely with process engineering, quality, and operations teams to diagnose technical issues and deliver effective, sustainable solutions
* Manage the deployment of hardware and software updates into live manufacturing environments, ensuring minimal disruption to production
* Ensure all technical documentation related to system modifications, improvements, and commissioning activities is accurately maintained
Candidate Profile
* Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, Design Engineering, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred)
* Around 3–4 years of relevant industry experience, with a willingness to take responsibility for key technical workstreams
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and industrial hardware, with solid hands-on mechatronics expertise
* Basic to intermediate understanding of software systems and coding principles
* Demonstrated experience in improving equipment design and enhancing production system performance
* Strong ability to manage projects, including delivery of technically complex and cost-sensitive initiatives
* Well-developed analytical and troubleshooting skills with a strong focus on continuous improvement
* Capability to operate effectively in complex and unfamiliar technical environments
* Comfortable working within fast-paced, international, multidisciplinary teams
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Desirable Experience
* Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma qualification (or equivalent practical experience)
* Experience in regulated manufacturing sectors such as medical devices or pharmaceuticals
