Computer scientist, engineer or similar (f/m/x) - mission planning for maritime cooperative systems

Bremen
Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt
Scientist
Inserat online seit: 25 August
Beschreibung

At the Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures in Bremerhaven, we research and develop innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of maritime infrastructures and make them adaptable, safe and sustainable. In close cooperation with partners from research, industry and other maritime security stakeholders, we combine technological innovation with practical expertise and offer you the opportunity to work on pioneering projects.

What to expect

Development and testing of methods for planning and executing autonomous operations of heterogeneous system networks consisting of aerial, surface, and underwater vehicles

From the seabed to the skies — develop the connected, autonomous, and robotic systems of the future! Whether underwater, on the surface, or in the air: the future of maritime security lies in the intelligent cooperation of distributed unmanned systems. Autonomous swarms and system networks hold enormous potential — from resilient security applications and adaptive rescue networks to large-scale environmental monitoring. The key is that each individual system not only operates reliably, but also acts intelligently and effectively within the network.

Join us in developing the next generation of distributed autonomous systems — with a focus on decision-making, cooperation, and swarm intelligence underwater. In our interdisciplinary team, you will work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and security-critical systems. Your tasks will focus on researching and developing methods for planning and executing autonomous operations of unmanned, heterogeneous system networks in the maritime context. You will research, develop, and implement new concepts, prototypes, and system architectures — together with our team, you will bring your solutions into practice, from laboratory simulation to deployment in real maritime environments.

Your tasks

* Research and develop methods for mission planning of autonomous, heterogeneous vehicle networks consisting of underwater, surface, and aerial systems.
* Design new procedures for the autonomous execution of missions by your vehicle networks.
* Ensure the operation of the vehicle networks during their autonomous missions.
* Identify relevant test scenarios to evaluate the developed methods and algorithms — both in the lab and in the field.
* Test and validate the developed methods and algorithms in the identified test scenarios.
* Present your research results in relevant journals and at international conferences.

Your profile

* completed academic university degree (diploma or master's) in an engineering or natural science discipline with relevant specialization (e.g. robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, physics) or another field relevant to the position
* knowledge and experience in programming (e.g. Rust, Python, C++)
* experience in operating autonomous systems (e.g. UAVs, USVs, UUVs) or in using complex and/or spatially distributed sensor platforms
* knowledge in preparing, conducting, and analyzing complex experiments and/or measurement campaigns
* proficiency in English, both written and spoken

We look forward to getting to know you!
