The University of Marburg, founded in 1527, offers a variety of excellent programs of study for around 22,000 students and confronts the important topics of our time through excellent research across a broad spectrum of sciences.
The Faculty of Medicine, Department of Systems Immunology, is currently accepting applications for a
Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher)
The position is offered for a period of 1,5 years. The starting date is The position is part-time (85 % of regular working hours, after 6 months an increase in working hours to 100 % is planned. The benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).
The Institute of Systems Immunology focuses on understanding the molecular and metabolic mechanisms governing reciprocal relationships between T cells and tissue-specific environment in cancer, pathogen-driven as well as in sterile inflammation. Our research program is based on four research lines interconnected by the question how T cell function is regulated and what is the impact of T cells and their products on the respective tissue and cells in a specific microenvironment and condition. The long-term goal is to understand how T cells integrate the signals from the environment and communicate with surrounding tissue during tumor, infection and inflammation.
This position is funded by the Wilhelm Sander Foundation and focuses on developing a targeted therapeutic approach against tumor-associated macrophages in lung cancer. Our project involves designing biodegradable capsules for the precise delivery of active compounds and siRNAs. These capsules aim to selectively disrupt mitochondrial metabolism in immunosuppressive macrophages, thereby restoring the anti-tumor functions of T cells.
We offer access to modern, fully equipped laboratory facilities, complemented by core units that provide cutting-edge molecular and cellular biology technologies. Our research is closely integrated with other cancer-focused departments at the university, fostering a highly collaborative and research-intensive environment.
