About the Role
As an Underwriter in our Credit & Political Risk Reinsurance team, you'll evaluate complex risks, develop tailored solutions, and build strong client relationships. You'll have the opportunity to drive economic profit while ensuring our risk portfolio remains robust and aligned with our strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
 * Analyze and assess treaty and facultative business regarding risks, exposure and profitability and conduct thorough, accurate costing
 * Provide expert underwriting recommendations and decisions ensuring compliance with Swiss Re's guidelines and policies
 * Negotiate reinsurance terms and conditions directly with clients or in collaboration with Client Underwriters
 * Build relationships through regular interaction with insurance clients, brokers and professional service providers in credit ecosystems to gather market intelligence and ensure diligent underwriting
 * Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across Client Markets, Business Services, Credit Risk Management, Contracts, Business Management and Finance
 * Drive growth by identifying new opportunities and developing innovative solutions that meet client needs
About You
You're a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are passionate about finding innovative solutions to complex problems. Your ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively will be key to your success in this role.
We are looking for candidates who bring:
 * University degree in business administration, natural science or law
 * Proven expertise in structured credit products and bank credit products (e.g. loans, derivatives and structured portfolio transactions)
 * Deep understanding of banking and the financial industry with ideally 7-10 years of successful track record in a Credit & Surety (re)insurance underwriting-related position
 * Strong analytical and conceptual skills with excellent problem-solving abilities
 * Willingness to travel
These are additional nice to haves:
 * Knowledge of German language
 * Experience with innovative technology solutions in the financial or insurance sector
 * Understanding of emerging markets and political risk assessment
 * Experience in negotiating complex reinsurance contracts
 * Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting credit and surety markets #LI-Hybrid
For Germany, the annual base salary range for this position is between EUR 98 000 and EUR 163 000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
