We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Head of Accounting (m/f/d) for a fast-growing, internationally operating company with a project-based business model. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for managing and further developing the accounting function across a complex group structure consisting of a double-digit number of legal entities.
The ideal candidate combines strong operational accounting expertise with strategic leadership capabilities and has extensive experience in both HGB and IFRS environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the accounting organization across multiple national and international legal entities
* Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and IFRS
* Ensure accurate and compliant accounting processes across the group
* Manage, mentor, and further build a high-performing finance and accounting team
* Coordinate group consolidation activities and act as key contact for auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders
* Oversee intercompany accounting and ensure alignment with group accounting policies
* Drive process optimization, standardization, and automation initiatives across the finance organization
* Support M&A, integration, and finance transformation projects
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain a robust internal control environment
Your Profile
* University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification
* Several years of leadership experience in accounting within an international or mid-sized corporate environment
* Strong expertise in HGB and IFRS
* Experience in project-based business models, ideally within technology, engineering, consulting, or services environments
* Proven experience managing accounting for a larger group structure with a double-digit number of entities
* Strong understanding of consolidation and intercompany processes
* Experience with ERP systems, finance transformation, and process automation initiatives
* Hands‑on mentality combined with strategic thinking and strong leadership skills
* Fluent German and English language skills
