Responsibilities:
1. You independently familiarize yourself with automated dosing of powders, granulates, and liquids in laboratory environments.
2. You conduct research on the state of the art of commercial, semi‑commercial, and modular dosing solutions (e.g. screw feeders, pump systems, piston dispensers).
3. You analyze existing solutions with regard to cost efficiency, flexibility, dosing accuracy, and automation potential for R&D laboratories.
4. You develop a modular system concept consisting of dosing units, weighing systems, containers/cartridges, and utility modules.
5. You design a hardware and software architecture, including interfaces, traceability concepts, and workflow or recipe management.
6. Optional: You support the implementation of a prototype or demonstrator, potentially including semi‑automated or robotic handling.
7. You document your work and coordinate closely with stakeholders from different technical disciplines.
Qualifications:
8. You are enrolled in a master’s degree program in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a comparable field.
9. You have a strong technical understanding and interest in laboratory automation systems.
10. Experience in one or more of the following areas is an advantage:Automation technology (motors, drives, sensors)Robotics (e.g. collaborative robots)Programming (e.g. Python or control‑related languages)CAD design or rapid prototyping (e.g. 3D printing)
11. You work independently, in a structured manner, and enjoy both conceptual and hands‑on development tasks.
