Genetic Laboratory Assistant Position
A qualified professional in this role will collaborate with senior medical staff to deliver clinical diagnostics and consulting services to patients at risk for genetic disease, and their families.
The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience in relevant genetic testing methodologies, including molecular genetics and cytogenetics, and will be responsible for the interpretation and analysis of genetic test results.
Key responsibilities include:
* Clinical diagnostics and consulting of patients, people at risk for genetic disease, and their families;
* Gaining experience in relevant genetic testing methodologies, including molecular genetics and cytogenetics;
* Interpretation and analysis of genetic test results, drafting of laboratory reports, technical validation of reports;
* Contribution to research and development: assisting in the evaluation and validation of new genetic testing methodologies and technologies;
* Continuing education: staying up-to-date with advancements in clinical genetics, genetic laboratory techniques, and relevant research;
* Multidisciplinary collaboration: working with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care;
* Documentation and reporting: maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of laboratory procedures, test results, and genetic consultations.
Requirements:
* Education: completion of a medical degree (permit to practice medicine) from a recognized medical school or university;
* Professional experience & technical knowledge: obtaining a license to practice medicine from the Ministry of Health;
* Strong interest in genetic/medical issues and exceptionally high level of motivation;
* Ability to work in a team, resilience, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and high commitment;
* Language skills: mandatory English (business proficiency written and oral), and French or German. Luxembourgish is an asset.
