The Position At Boehringer Ingelheimu2019s global department of Translational Medicine & Clinical Pharmacology (TMCP), we advance our assets from pre-clinical research to clinical trials, registration and onwards to the patient through cutting-edge biomarker and translational science. We are seeking an exceptionally talented postdoc to join our multidisciplinary team of biomarker experts at our largest R&D site in Biberach an der Riu00df (Germany), where you will have access to state-of-the-art instrumentation. With your expertise, agility and problem-solving mindset, you will be able to implement advanced LC-MS approaches that will be decisive for quantifying biomarkers and supporting successfully our pipeline. Of course, this advertisement is not only addressed to applicants directly after completing their doctorate, but to all qualified candidates Tasks & responsibilities In your new role, you will evaluate and implement advanced LC-MS approaches (e.g., micro-LC, column-switching, MS3, immune-capture) to achieve highly sensitive, targeted quantitation of biomarkers. Furthermore, you will develop, validate, and implement targeted, quantitative, fit-for-purpose LC-MS assays biomarkers, with a focus on proteins. You will plan and execute work to timely support clinical trials and translational studies, including sample handling and preparation, LC-MS analysis, data analysis, critical evaluation, and reporting. Moreover, you will ensure proper operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of LC-MS and laboratory equipment. You will contribute to laboratory operation, organization and documentation according to our Quality system. In addition, you will promote achievements through presentations and publications (internally and externally). You will train and mentor less experienced staff. Requirements PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline. Proven hands-on experience in mass spectrometry (primarily: triple quadrupole; optionally: Orbitrap) and liquid chromatography techniques (RP-LC, HILIC, UHPLC), including sample preparation for proteins and peptides. Demonstrated expertise and track record of developing MS-based quantitative assays in biological samples (especially biomarkers), ideally with pharmaceutical or CRO experience and knowledge of applicable guidelines. Skilled in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining LC-MS systems with a proven ability to independently lead complex bioanalytical projects and ensure high performance and data quality through a proactive and innovative mindset. Strong understanding of protein quantitation techniques, including sample preparation strategies (like bottom-up proteomics, immunocapture), LC-MS (e.g. PRM, SRM-MS, MS3) as well as utilization of dedicated databases (e.g. UniProtKB, ExPASy, PeptideAtlas), software packages (e.g. Skyline). Ability to work independently and team-oriented, with critical thinking, problem-solving attitude with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
