Your mission as Business Development Manager is to lead and grow the Leak Detection, Filling and Gas Recovery Systems business on a global scale, securing a market‑leading position for all brands within the Scientific Vacuum Division (SVD), including ESA Service, Leybold, Edwards and NOY.

You will identify new markets and applications, drive commercial excellence, expand our agent and distributor network, and act as a strategic link between Customer Centers, Product Management, Sales & Marketing teams, and Systems & Solutions functions. By fostering strong collaborations, developing compelling customer solutions, and supporting key sales activities, you will significantly contribute to profitable growth and a superior customer experience.

As Business Development Manager you will report to the Vice President Marketing of the Scientific Vacuum Division.

You will:

1. Identify and develop new applications, customer segments, and markets for Leak Detection, Filling and Gas Recovery Systems.
2. Build, manage and continuously strengthen agent and distributor networks globally together with Business Line Managers.
3. Perform frequent customer visits to support Customer Centers, agents and distributors through expert guidance and technical know‑how.
4. Collaborate closely with Customer Centers and sales partners to understand business requirements and support local systemization initiatives.
5. Develop and drive product, application and proposal strategies that ensure leading technical and commercial competitiveness.
6. Train and coach Applications & Proposals Engineers, Project Managers and system functions to ensure customer‑centric solution design and execution.
To succeed, you will need

7. A university degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
8. At least 10 years of experience in industrial or scientific vacuum systems, engineering, technology or closely related areas.
9. Demonstrated commercial or business development experience (advantageous).
10. Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills across all levels of an international organization.
11. Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
12. Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
13. Strategic mindset combined with hands‑on execution capabilities.
14. Excellent command of English in writing and speaking; additional languages are a plus.
15. A proactive, customer‑focused approach with strong ownership and decision‑making abilities.
16. Willingness to travel internationally on a moderate basis to Customer Centers, Service Centers and end customers.

Job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site in our facilities in either Cologne (Germany) or Treviglio (Italy). #Li-hybrid
