For our iMouse project, we are looking for a working student in the field of AI & ML-Ops.
iMouse specializes in the development of intelligent monitoring solutions for laboratory animals. The goal is to use AI and computer vision to promote the 3R principles – in particular, the reduction of animal testing while increasing data density. The platform enables automated behavioral analysis and supports researchers with valuable insights.
What you will do
* Develop and maintain machine learning inference pipelines using Python and Docker
* Support infrastructure automation and management via Ansible
* Contribute to the development of custom Transformer-based models for behavior detection, segmentation, and tracking
* Help optimize training and deployment workflows using PyTorch and Hugging face
* Build and maintain internal reporting and analysis pipelines
* Take ownership of small projects under the guidance of experienced ML engineers
What you bring to the table
* Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in computer science, data science, or related field
* Proficient in Python with an understanding of modern ML workflows
* Interest in applied machine learning, especially in computer vision and Transformer models
* Independent, structured working style and strong team skills
* Willingness to work on-site at least 3 days per week at the Fraunhofer HHI Accelerator, Silicon Allee (Berlin)

The position is initially limited to one year. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
