We are hiring a senior sales leader to do one thing: win new business.
This is a pure hunting role. You will be expected to build pipeline from scratch, open doors with senior decision-makers, and close complex custom software development deals.
There is no SDR team, no waiting for marketing — just a clear mandate: £1m+ of new revenue in the next 12 months.

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Software Sales Director – New Business to drive new revenue through the sale of custom software development services.
This is a hands‑on, hybrid or remote role focused on outbound sales and new business acquisition. You will be responsible for building pipeline from zero, engaging senior stakeholders, and closing complex bespoke software engagements.
You will be expected to operate independently, working directly with the CEO on strategic opportunities, deal structuring, and commercial positioning.
This is not a management or leadership role. It is a frontline sales role with a clear expectation to generate and close new business.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
Generate new business through proactive outbound activity including cold outreach, networking, and targeted account engagement
Build and manage a qualified pipeline from initial contact through to close
Identify and prioritise organisations with demand for custom software development
Engage senior decision‑makers including CTOs, CIOs, Heads of Engineering, and Product Leaders
Maintain high levels of outbound activity to ensure consistent pipeline growth
Sales Execution
Own the full sales lifecycle: prospecting, discovery, qualification, solution shaping, proposal, negotiation, and close
Lead structured discovery conversations focused on business problems, system constraints, and technical outcomes
Translate client needs into scoped software delivery engagements
Work closely with internal technical teams and the CEO on solution definition and pricing
Maintain disciplined forecasting and pipeline tracking
Custom Software Sales
Sell bespoke software development services, including:
Greenfield platform builds
System integrations and modernisation
AI‑enabled applications and automation
Cloud‑native application development
Position the company as a partner for solving complex technical and business challenges
Navigate multi‑stakeholder buying groups involving technical and commercial stakeholders
Pipeline and Performance Management
Maintain a pipeline with minimum 3× coverage of target
Deliver against monthly and quarterly revenue targets
Track activity, conversion, and deal progression in CRM
Continuously refine sales approach based on results
Essential Skills & Experience
5+ years of B2B sales experience in software development services, digital transformation, or technology consulting
Proven track record of generating £1m+ annual new business revenue
Strong experience selling custom or bespoke software solutions (not just SaaS licences)
Demonstrable ability to build pipeline independently through outbound activity
Experience selling complex, multi‑stakeholder technical deals
Strong commercial acumen and ability to shape deals
Experience working in fast‑paced, founder‑led or scale‑up environments
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
Experience selling:
Custom software development projects (£50k–£500k+)
Cloud‑native or AWS‑based applications
AI / automation solutions
Existing network within UK mid‑market or enterprise organisations
Familiarity with software delivery models (Agile, product‑led development, etc.)
