Your mission
* You take end-to-end technical ownership of industrial thermal pre-treatment plants for black mass — in particular rotary kilns and off-gas treatment systems — from engineering to commissioning.
* You develop and optimize thermal treatment kilns, with a strong focus on metallurgical processes.
* You create and review technical specifications, track plant design milestones, and ensure clean, on-time execution.
* You secure compliance with legal requirements for waste treatment facilities (e.g., TA Luft, BImSchG, waste legislation) and drive thermal, mechanical, and electrical process safety.
* You coordinate external partners and suppliers as well as internal stakeholders across all project phases (engineering, installation, commissioning).
* You support on-site commissioning and guide a smooth handover into stable operations.
Your profile
* You hold a degree in metallurgy, ferrous metallurgy, process engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable field.
* You have solid expertise in thermal process engineering, especially kiln technology and off-gas treatment, and you apply it confidently in projects.
* You bring hands-on experience in plant engineering from design through site management to commissioning, ideally in kiln construction, heat treatment, waste treatment facilities or similar projects.
* You are familiar with legal requirements such as TA Luft, BImSchG, KrWG, and relevant norms and standards, and you ensure permit-ready, safe operations.
* You work in a structured, solution-oriented way, take ownership and keep a clear head in dynamic project phases.
* You communicate confidently in German and English, both spoken and written.

About us
cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.
Our process
The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.
cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.
