Position Title: Director Market Access
About:
Discover are working with a leading European healthcare consultancy specializing in market access, pricing, and health economics for pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations. The firm combines deep local expertise across major European markets with a collaborative, pan-European approach, supporting clients across the product lifecycle, from early evidence and regulatory planning to HTA strategy, pricing, reimbursement, and post-launch value communication.
Role Overview:
The Director Market Access will provide strategic leadership and hands-on delivery excellence, shaping the future of the Market Access practice. This role combines client delivery oversight, business development, capability building, and team development. You will manage key accounts, lead complex projects, drive innovation in methodologies and tech-enabled delivery, and ensure commercial success, including client, revenue, and profitability targets. The position is based in Germany with responsibilities across European markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Leadership:
* Lead and manage client relationships for pharmaceutical and biotech accounts
* Ensure client satisfaction, repeat business, and long-term partnerships
* Serve as strategic advisor on key market access projects, including pricing, reimbursement, and HTA initiatives
Strategic Project Leadership:
* Oversee delivery standards and apply agile working methods across teams
* Drive innovation in methodologies and tech-enabled delivery
* Lead or participate in cross-country and European projects, managing cross-functional teams
Business & Account Development:
* Lead business development efforts, including proposals, pitches, and upselling
* Build strong client relationships in Germany and across Europe
* Support growth of the portfolio and alignment with broader consulting strategy
People Leadership & Talent Management:
* Mentor, coach, and develop delivery teams, fostering a high-performance culture
* Manage staffing, resource allocation, and career development opportunities
* Shape recruitment strategy and contribute to talent pipeline development
Qualifications:
Education & Professional Qualifications:
* Master’s degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, health economics, or business
* Excellent German and English language skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM and project management tools preferred
* PhD or multilingual skills are a plus
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in market access or market access consulting within Germany and Europe, ideally with international exposure
* Strong understanding of the German healthcare system and AMNOG processes, as well as European market access landscapes
* Proven success in managing client relationships and delivering business growth
* Familiarity with digital health, innovative pricing models, and EU HTA processes preferred
