About the Role
Location Germany Berlin Berlin Company Siemens Energy AG Organization Transformation of Industry Business Unit Sustainable Energy Systems Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Experienced Professional A Snapshot of Your Day As a Development Engineer, you will shape the future of green hydrogen by designing high-performance PEM or AEM electrolysis stacks. Your day will involve transforming concepts into scalable, production-ready components, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting integration at our state-of-the-art Gigafactory in Berlin. You’ll work alongside experts in electrochemistry, simulation, manufacturing, and procurement to drive innovation and deliver robust, cost-effective solutions. Our inclusive and quality-driven culture empowers you to grow your skills and make a real impact on the energy transition. How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Design, develop, and release mechanical components and drawings for PEM and AEM electrolysis stacks, ensuring compliance with quality and project standards
2. Lead the conceptualization, simulation, and optimization of stack components from idea to implementation
3. Act as a key technical interface to manufacturing and quality teams, supporting seamless production processes and providing on-site support at our Gigafactory in Berlin
4. Manage product data and documentation, enabling efficient transfer to future product generations
5. Optimize designs through "design to cost" initiatives, balancing performance, scalability, and cost
6. Collaborate across disciplines—electrochemistry, system engineering, and procurement—to foster innovation and deliver high-performance, cost-effective solutions
What You Bring
7. A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, with a strong preference for advanced degrees such as a Master’s or
8. Midterm experience in mechanical design within high-performance system sectors, ideally with direct exposure to hydrogen or renewable energy technologies and development procedure in general
9. Proven proficiency in 3D-CAD & 2D-CAD software (preferably NX) and hands-on experience with FEA/structural simulations and calculations (preferably using ANSYS Workbench)
10. A deep understanding of electrolysis processes, particularly PEM or AEM, including design principles and manufacturing practices
11. Fluency in English and German is essential for effective collaboration in a global and diverse work environment
12. Experience leading cross-functional teams with responsibility for budget, resources, and timelines as well as strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in interdisciplinary teams
