Sales director dach area (steel / stainless steel industry)

Beschreibung

Our client, a well-structured multinational company operating in the steel industry, has entrusted us with the search for a Sales Manager DACH Area.

The role is responsible for achieving the Business Unit’s targets in terms of revenue, profitability, and volumes by executing and overseeing the growth strategy defined in close collaboration with the Commercial Director. The position combines strategic and operational responsibilities, with a strong focus on rebuilding and strengthening the company’s commercial presence in the DACH region, promoting sustainable growth.


Key objectives include:

* Achieving monthly budget targets;
* Contributing to commercial volume targets;
* Optimizing human and financial resources within the assigned scope;
* Managing and developing relationships with strategic clients;
* Supporting clients throughout the purchasing process, identifying the most suitable product solutions;
* Contributing to the development of new products aligned with market needs;
* Ensuring the reduction and elimination of critical inventory through proactive commercial actions;
* Leading and developing the assigned Sales and Customer Care team;


Key Responsibilities:

* Translate and implement the commercial strategy in the DACH region, ensuring the alignment with corporate guidelines;
* Monitor budget performance and, in case of deviations due to market dynamics (e.g. raw material volatility), define recovery strategies in coordination with Top Management;
* Supervise and support the direct sales force, ensuring the correct management of pricing, quotations and order processes;
* Contribute to key commercial policy decisions (pricing, product mix, commercial conditions) in line with corporate guidelines;
* Personally manage complex negotiations and high‑impact situations with clients;
* Analyze market trends, competitor positioning and pricing dynamics to support mid- to long‑term commercial planning;
* Anticipate technical and commercial trends in coordination with relevant internal functions to maximize market positioning and profitability;
* Manage spot and short‑term agreements (mainly monthly, occasionally quarterly) in a context characterised by short sales cycles and high competitive intensity;
* Develop strategic clients and support the acquisition of new key accounts through structured commercial proposals;
* Foster motivation, accountability and professional growth within the team;
* Ensure continuous training of Customer Care resources to maintain high service standards and strong product knowledge;
* Maintain a strong presence in the market through regular customer visits across the DACH region;


Technical Requirements:

* Degree in Economics, Business Administration or related disciplines (MBA or Master’s degree considered a plus);
* Mandatory experience with stainless steel producers;
* Fluent German is required;
* Proven knowledge of flat rolled stainless steel products (INOX);
* Solid understanding of product quality assessment criteria;
* In‑depth knowledge of market dynamics and pricing strategies in the steel industry;
