Lead System Engineer (m/f/d)
Your Tasks
Purpose of the Role:
As Lead System Engineer, you will be responsible for the strategic coordination and control of engineering efforts across internal teams and subcontractors. Your main mission is to ensure that all technical development activities—from concept to integration—are aligned with system-level objectives, program milestones, and contractual obligations.
Description:
1. Develop and maintain the master engineering roadmap, integrating inputs from internal teams and subcontractors
2. Define key engineering milestones, maturity gates, and dependencies across system domains
3. Monitor progress against roadmap objectives, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
4. Coordinate and control subcontractor engineering roadmaps to ensure alignment with system-level plans
5. Review subcontractor development schedules, technical baselines, and milestone deliverables
6. Facilitate joint planning sessions, technical reviews, and roadmap synchronization workshops
7. Ensure subcontractor designs and developments are consistent with the overall system architecture, managing interface definitions, integration points, and system-level trade-offs
8. Oversee verification and validation (V&V) planning across subcontractors, ensuring integration into the overall test strategy
9. Provide regular technical status updates and progress indicators for program management and stakeholders
10. Act as the technical interface between engineering, program management, and subcontractor teams
11. Mentor internal engineers and promote best practices in roadmap planning and technical coordination
Your Qualifications
12. Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
13. 10+ years of experience in system engineering, with a strong focus on subcontractor coordination and roadmap management
14. Proven track record in leading complex, multi-domain programs with distributed development teams
15. Expertise in system engineering methodologies (, V-model, MBSE), lifecycle planning, and interface management
16. Proficiency in planning tools (, MS Project, Primavera), modeling tools (, SysML, Cameo), and requirements platforms (, DOORS, Polarion)
17. Familiarity with space systems, ground infrastructure, and integrated network environments
18. Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities
19. Excellent organizational and analytical skills
20. Ability to manage complexity across international and multi-vendor environments
21. INCOSE CSEP or equivalent systems engineering certification is preferred
22. Project management certifications (, PMP, PRINCE2) are a plus
