The Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology Fraunhofer UMSICHT develops process engineering solutions in the field of carbon conversion (next-generation biofuels, recycling technologies for plastics and composite materials, biochar), low-emission combustion and firing technology, and the provision and storage of process heat. It also has expertise in waste and resource strategies and life cycle assessment (LCA). With a focus on process engineering and plant construction, it supports clients from the project idea through pilot plants and demonstrators to market launch.

You will work at UMSICHT in Sulzbach Rosenberg in the Combustion and Process Heat department on a project to investigate ammonia and hydrogen burners (100 kW) in a combustion chamber, including comprehensive exhaust gas investigations. The aim is to analyse emission behaviour, combustion stability and efficiency under realistic operating conditions.

* Testing and commissioning: Trial operation of the 100 kW test rig in the combustion chamber
* Systematic measurement campaigns Planning and implementation of structured measurement series on load, air ratio and fuel mixtures
* Emissions analysis Recording and evaluation of NOx, NH3 slip, CO
What you contribute
must have:
* Degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, environmental engineering or a comparable field of study
* Very good/good written and spoken German (A level) and/or English (B level) skills
* Knowledge of combustion and measurement technology
* Structured working style
nice to have:
* Experience in working with test benches
