Nippon Gases Germany is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our Finance Team in Düsseldorf.
You will manage all tax-related matters for the Central Eastern Region, primarily focusing on our German legal entities. This senior role covers tax compliance, tax accounting, transfer pricing, tax audits, M&A tax aspects, and tax advisory.
What will your responsibilities be?
* Serve as the primary contact for tax matters within the region, providing ongoing advice to the business, collaborating with the Finance team and external advisors.
* Ensure full compliance with all tax obligations, including VAT returns, Intrastat reporting, and reconciliation of tax payments.
* Review corporate income tax returns prepared by external providers.
* Handle other relevant tax topics: local taxes, energy taxes, etc.
* Prepare monthly income tax accruals and other tax accounting entries for reporting.
* Participate in the preparation and filing of annual financial statements, including shareholder resolutions and statutory publications.
* Support external and internal auditors on tax-related topics.
* Oversee transfer pricing documentation, reporting, and monitoring, as well as business model reviews and support on M&A transactions.
* Act as the main contact point for tax audits and communicate with tax authorities.
* Provide regular updates to the European Tax Director on key tax matters, risks, and ongoing projects.
* Contribute to the implementation of SAP S/4HANA for tax-related processes.
* Support tax strategy and process improvement projects in collaboration with Finance teams and the European Tax Director.
What are the requirements for this position?
* University studies in economics or law focusing on taxes, or completed training as a tax clerk with further specialization, or equivalent qualification.
* 7+ years of professional tax experience in an international environment, preferably in manufacturing.
* Strong knowledge of German and international tax regulations, with proven transfer pricing experience.
* Experience in M&A transactions is highly desirable.
* Fluent in German and English (minimum C1).
* Proficient in Excel and SAP.
* Solid understanding of energy taxes, customs, and tax reporting tools (e.g., ELSTER).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
* Self-motivated with a practical mindset, able to work autonomously.
