At present, as many as 6.000 horses are the pride of the Lewitz stud, and 800 foals are born each year.
We have a veterinary clinic based in Lewitz specializing primarily in equine breeding and treatment.
The position we are offering provides a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of vet nursing, and we expect applicants to come with competent horse/foal training skills as well as being well presented, punctual and reliable.
This full-time appointment involving responding to calls from outlying farms and assisting with all aspects of professional breeding.
Your tasks:
* Feeding and taking care of the horses from birth on
* support the vets with initial care after the birth
* Stable work (tidiness and cleanliness)
* Leading mares to the gynaecological examination or insemination
* Observation of behaviour and state of health of our mares
You will frequently be on "foal watch"- looking after mares and their foals, helping with neonatal foal and mare care, and thus given a first-rate opportunity for hands-on learning.
