The Principal Research Scientist holds a key science leadership position in a dynamic area of biodiversity research within the Arthur Rylah Institute (ARI).
* Ongoing role – 38 hours per week
* Heidelberg – Hybrid work arrangement available
* Salary ranges from $138,631 – $185,518 + super + leave loading
In this role you will develop and manage large projects that address ecological questions, often employing new and innovative techniques, to inform policy and land management. The Principal Research Scientist will operate as a high-level specialist/researcher with excellent demonstrated experience and a highly regarded record of research in applied ecology.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
* A post-graduate science degree (preferably PhD) with a major in ecology or equivalent is mandatory.
* Extensive experience in leading and delivering complex ecological research projects.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and attract competitive funding.
* Demonstrated experience in leadership and co-ordination of large scale multi-disciplinary ecological research teams including the ability to engage with diverse partners to develop and deliver credible and innovative ecological research.
* Proven ability to provide scientific and technical services and to generate high quality advice, reports, and scientific papers.
