iDfellows Clinician Scientist (all genders) - Hamburg Programme
Main tasks
iDfellows is a DFG-funded career programme of the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) developed together with its close partners in infection research such as the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM), Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV) and the Research Center Borstel. It is designed as a training and research programme to support excellent clinician scientists interested in aspects of infectious and inflammatory diseases, and allows to successfully combine a career in clinical medicine with innovative research.

1. One year of full-time research funding followed by two years with 50 % protected research time
2. Participation in a structured and individualized clinical iDfellows training programme (in collaboration with the Ärztekammer Hamburg) allowing to qualify as infectious diseases specialist
3. Scientific Advancement: Top research projects addressing the most pressing questions in infectious diseases research of the present and the future, including emerging infections with global relevance
4. Mentorship and peer-group training will guide the fellows into independent and innovative clinician scientist careers
5. International Networks: Strengthening international exchange and encouraging training and research periods abroad
6. Integration into the Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology (HCTI) as well as the research campus II, which is primarily dedicated to infectious diseases research. This will offer unique research networks, shared databases and biobanks, as well as disease modeling and translational platforms.
Your Profile
The call is open to scientifically and clinically highly-motivated clinicians,
7. who hold a doctorate and have at least two years of clinical experience,
8. who want to develop a research focus on aspects of inflammatory and infectious diseases,
9. who have been able to demonstrate both clinical skills and research accomplishments
