Description We’re looking for a hands-on Automation & Controls Integration Engineer to develop, integrate, and continuously improve the automation solutions behind our Quantum Diamond Microscope systems. In this role, you’ll work on PLC-based control systems, automation hardware, and system integration, helping to bring complex subsystems into a reliable overall platform. You’ll collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering to support prototyping, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting, and to ensure our systems are robust, scalable, and ready for deployment. What will you do Develop and improve automation solutions for our systems Select and integrate automation hardware, terminals, and control components Develop and integrate pneumatic solutions and contribute to the creation and refinement of electrical and pneumatic schematics Support system integration, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting Work closely with electrical, software, and mechanical engineering teams to bring subsystems into a reliable overall system Contribute to the design of PCBs for plug-in modules where needed Take ownership of automation and integration topics from prototype to robust deployment What is expected of you Background in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, or a similar field Experience in PLC programming and automation for complex technical systems Structured, hands-on approach to debugging, troubleshooting, and improving automation systems Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and turn technical concepts into reliable system solutions Proactive mindset with the willingness to take ownership in a scale-up environment Familiarity with safety-related automation concepts is a plus Experience with PCB design for modular electronic assemblies is a plus Our benefits Mission: At QD, we’re driven by more than just building great products - we aim to make a lasting difference.
