Firmware Engineer - Automotive | Semiconductors / Sensors
A leading company in sensing technology is looking for a Firmware Engineer with a good background in Automotive for an exciting opportunity in Stutensee, Germany.
This company are creating sensor solutions for a range of industries, from automotive and industrial engineering to home applications.
About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and hands-on Firmware Engineer to contribute to the development and maintenance of embedded software for our automotive products. You will be an integral part of the European Application Team, working on exciting new product introductions and supporting their existing portfolio.
Qualifications & Skills:
* B.Sc./M.Sc in Computer Science or a comparable Engineering discipline.
* Strong proficiency in Embedded C (experience with ARM, RISC V, PIC, AVR preferred).
* Proven experience in firmware development within the automotive industry.
* Solid understanding of automotive communication interfaces (LIN, I2C, SPI, CAN, Serial).
* Experience with Git version control systems.
* Familiarity with the Automotive SPICE process (a plus).
* Knowledge of functional safety and/or ASIL standards (a plus).
* Proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
* Basic understanding of electronics (an advantage).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Knowledge of German (preferred).
Key Responsibilities:
* Participate actively in project teams for new product introductions (NPI) and application development.
* Collaborate closely with hardware, application software, and system engineers.
* Develop and adapt firmware for new automotive applications.
* Port firmware between different processor architectures (PIC/ARM to alternatives).
* Liaise with external development partners.
* Implement and execute tests for firmware releases.
* Assist with end-of-line setups for component and module manufacturing.
* Maintain and improve existing automotive firmware.
* Collaborate with quality and operations teams on continuous improvement and customer complaint resolution for existing products.
