About the Role
As a German tax specialist, you will be part of the tax team, which currently consists of three employees based in Amsterdam, and you will work closely with the finance colleagues located in Düsseldorf and Amsterdam. You will be involved in:
1. Manage the German CIT process which incudes CIT calculation preparation, preparation of the CIT return in cooperation with local advisors and initiate CIT payments and align with accounting on the related bookings;
2. Manage the German VAT process which includes monthly and annually VAT return preparation, securing VAT payment, managing VAT treatment of incoming and outgoing services and pro-rata calculations;
3. Manage the German interest withholding tax process which includes the submission of WHT returns and initiate payments and align with accounting on the related bookings;
4. You will improve or design, implement and run controls in the German tax processes, in line with MBE’s Tax Control Framework, to secure tax control;
5. Work together with the tax team TP’s specialist on the German local file;
6. You will monitor tax regulatory changes in Germany, assess applicability to MBE and implement new regulations where needed.
7. Support in the management of German tax audits, including creation of data exchange packages in line with GoBS requirements;
8. You will coordinate with local tax advisors and internal stakeholders such as finance, front office, management, operations and legal;
9. Provide ad-hoc tax advise to business for instance on new Products, organizational changes or complex transactions.
In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:
10. Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Finance, Economics, or equivalent; preference for formal tax training or qualifications (e.g., Steuerfachangestellte, Steuerfachwirt);
11. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in German tax operations—ideally within a Big4, bank or financial services institution;
12. Solid knowledge of German tax law, including income tax, VAT, tax audit requirements such as GoBS and compliance rules;
13. Experience in tax compliance, reporting, audits, and responding to tax authority inquiries;
14. High attention to detail with a structured and methodical working style;
15. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to work independently in complex and dynamic environment;
16. Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills in German and English, both written and spoken;
17. Able to work effectively across diverse cultures, demonstrating openness, adaptability, and respect for different perspectives;
18. Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks under pressure.
