We are looking for experienced
L3 Maintenance Engineers
with deep understanding of the system architecture, advanced programming skills, and experience working with detailed documentation and sophisticated tools. You will be responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities comply with the Galileo Software Standard (GSWS), and EUSPA regulations, thereby maintaining the high standards of reliability and security required for the Galileo system.
The Level 3 (L3) maintenance execution is to ensure the operational reliability, performance, and security of the Galileo system. L3 maintenance involves advanced and specialized tasks that go beyond routine operations and first-level and second level support.
It focuses on the detailed diagnosis, correction, and enhancement of the software components of the Galileo Ground Segment, L3 maintenance tasks include in-depth problem resolution, software patching, security updates, and performance optimization.
You will be supporting the Spacecraft Key Management Facility (SKMF) which is a critical component of the Galileo Ground Control Segment (GCS) responsible for managing and protecting encryption keys and other security-related data for the Galileo spacecraft.
The position will include tasks such as:
 * Support to Problem Management
 * Handling of L3 maintenance requests:
 * Respond and close tickets in time
 * Provide complete, accurate and consistent information in the tickets.
 * Handling of anomalies and non-conformances:
 * Complete AR actions in time
 * Resolve CAT-1/CAT-2 non-conformances in time.
 * Maintenance activities required to prevent occurrences or re-occurrences of anomalies or nonconformances.
 * Performance of maintenance as required to address new risks (such as new software security risks).
 * Provision of inputs for Service Management Reports in time.
 * Provision and maintenance of L3 maintenance tools as necessary.
 * L3 Hardware Repair limited to the L3 development environment.
 * Alignment of the L3 maintenance environment to operational configuration as per the L2 GSEG Maintainer repository.
 * Provide targeted cybersecurity support
 * Support the preparation of the outputs needed for the release documentation, including the preparation of the Maintenance Releases deliverables related to the fixes developed by the L3 Team.
Required Skills
 * C and C++: Proficiency in writing, debugging, and optimizing C and C++ code, with a strong understanding of memory management, system-level programming, and performance optimization.
 * Shell: Skills in writing and maintaining shell scripts for automation and system administration tasks.
 * Java and Python: Familiarity with Java and Python for developing and maintaining auxiliary tools and scripts.
 * Key Management and Data Protection: Generation and Distribution, Cryptography, Secure Storage
 * Handling Confidential Information: Data Confidentiality, Access Controls, Audit Trails
 * Hardware Handling and Maintenance: Knowledge of Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), Secure Environments, Redundancy and Failover
 * Anomaly Fixing and Debugging: Diagnosis and Resolution, Debugging Tools, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
 * Security and Compliance: Security Protocols
 * Documentation and Reporting: Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation
 * Version Control and Collaboration: Proficiency in using version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
 * Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate with other developers, and manage code repositories.
 * Agile Methodologies
Key Qualifications (Experience, Education, Capabilities)
 * University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
 * Strong foundation in software development, particularly in C and C++.
 * Knowledge of security frameworks and principles relevant to critical systems. (Hardware and Software)
 * Familiarity with operating systems, networks, and system-level programming.
