As Head of Steel Design, you will report directly to the Head of Design and Engineering and lead our steel engineering department. Your responsibilities include: Managing and developing a team of structural and steel design engineers (disciplinary and technical leadership). Responsible for the design, calculation, and detailing of steel structures for offshore converter platforms in all project phases. Ensuring compliance with all relevant rules, codes, standards, and offshore safety regulations (e.g. DNV, Eurocode, ISO). Interfacing with other disciplines (e.g. electrical, mechanical, layout, project management) as well as with external stakeholders and certifiers. Monitoring and securing progress and quality of engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budgets. Driving technical innovation, process improvements, and standardization within the steel design team. We are looking for a committed leader with strong technical and interpersonal skills. You should bring: A university degree in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, naval architecture, or a related discipline. Several years of professional experience in steel structure design within the offshore, maritime, or energy infrastructure sector – ideally with HVDC platforms or offshore substations. Proven leadership experience, including team management and mentoring in an engineering environment. In-depth knowledge of structural analysis, offshore standards, and steel fabrication requirements. Fluent German and English skills – both written and spoken – are mandatory. A structured, solution-oriented mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic project environment.
