A Snapshot of Your Day
As Head of the Turbine Mechanical Design East (GER) team within LGT Engineering, you will lead and inspire a group of around twelve CAD Designers and Product Definers located in Mülheim an der Ruhr and Berlin. Your role focuses on driving team performance, ensuring high-quality and on-time delivery, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
You will work closely with the U.S.-based Turbine Mechanical Design West team to ensure global alignment in design philosophy, strategy, and methodologies. In addition, you will collaborate with other turbine engineering disciplines and cross-functional partners across Technology, Manufacturing, Service, Procurement, and Program Management. A key part of your responsibilities is developing team capabilities, promoting continuous improvement, and supporting Siemens Energy's commitment to sustainable and reliable energy solutions.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Lead, inspire, and develop a team of ~12 mechanical designers responsible for hot‑gas‑path (HGP) components such as turbine blades and vanes, fostering an environment of innovation, accountability, and high performance
* Create an inclusive and collaborative team culture where all colleagues can contribute to their full potential
* Promote capability growth through multi-skilling, targeted training, task assignments, and proactive development opportunities
* Ensure operational excellence by delivering turbine components with high quality, durability, and on-time performance
* Collaborate closely with other turbine disciplines, the Technology organization, and the B&V Manufacturing division to align design features, tools, and methods across global teams
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, methodologies, and digital toolchains within the team
What You Bring
* University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical field
* Extensive professional experience in mechanical design, ideally including exposure to gas turbine component development, along with proven leadership experience as a line manager, project manager, design team lead, or in a similar role
* Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals and working familiarity with aerodynamics, heat transfer, and mechanical integrity; experience with manufacturing and service of GT HGP components is a plus
* Strategic and execution‑focused mindset with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
* High intercultural awareness and the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams; experience supporting networking and change management
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, coupled with fluency in both German and English
About the Team
Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
