Telecommunications Researcher
We are seeking a skilled researcher to contribute to our team's project in 5G/6G Non-Terrestrial Networks.
About the Role:
* The successful candidate will be responsible for working on project-relevant subjects from the last and current Release of the 3GPP radio access and/or core network standards, implementing features in MATLAB and/or OpenAirInterface software for computer simulations, and conducting theoretical research to submit proposals to ongoing study or work items with a view towards patenting and possible inclusion into future Releases.
* They will perform research on future communications networks topics including but not limited to:
o Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs)
o Multicast and Broadcast Services (MBSs)
o Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV), UA System (UAS) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM)
o Experimental emulators prototypes testbeds and distributed research infrastructure test platforms
* The researcher will set up real-world testing both in the laboratory using emulators and software defined radios (SDRs) and in the field using drones or satellites to validate research or project outcomes.
* Results will be disseminated through foremost scientific publications and conferences in their fields.
* The researcher will contribute to the development of research proposals for attracting funding through industrial national and European projects on the topic.
* Publishing research findings in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and presenting at relevant conferences is also an essential responsibility.
* Additionally they will contribute to different research projects either coordinating technical contribution and/or preparing project deliverables.
* In the long run they will help in the supervision of PhD students.
Key Requirements:
* A PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/engineering with a focus on wireless communications.
* A good understanding of the 3GPP 5G radio access and/or core network protocols.
* Proficiency in multiple programming languages.
* Working knowledge of the OpenAirInterface open source software stack.
