We are looking for a Principal Scientist CHO Cells, Media and Processes (x|f|m) for the Research and Development Advanced Therapy Solutions department at our sites in Ulm or Bielefeld, Sartorius Xell GmbH. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing the Technology Strategy | Roadmap in the field of Cell Culture Media and CHO Cell Lines & Processes. This involves leveraging your expertise to generate and evaluate state-of-the-art knowledge for business potential, translating it into new and existing product or technology areas.
Our cross-functional team of cell culture professionals is eager to shape the future with you. This position is full-time and offers a hybrid work model, requiring presence on-site in Bielefeld and occasionally in Ulm (or vice versa), with some remote work options.
Responsibilities
1. Develop the strategy for our CHO upstream platform, focusing on cell culture media and processes, aligned with Product and Technology Roadmaps and long-term company objectives.
2. Design and lead tactical plans based on division and corporate strategies, advising program leads and senior leadership.
3. Develop, collaborate, and influence international expert committees.
4. Maintain technical relationships with CHO or media customers and research partners for effective communication.
5. Establish new collaborations and research programs.
6. Ensure successful application of research projects in key technology areas.
7. Advise a global team of scientists, managers, and product management.
8. Evaluate and present project results internally and externally.
9. Represent Sartorius as a Key Opinion Leader and Subject Matter Expert at conferences and committees.
Qualifications
* PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field.
* Several years of industry experience in biotech, with focus on CHO processes and media.
* Recognized expert (KOL, SME) with a proven track record, publications, and patents.
* Experience with Sartorius technology areas is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
* Ability to prioritize and challenge existing systems.
* Creative, innovative, and strong stakeholder management skills.
* Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
