The Product Development Scientist will be responsible for transferring new formulations from development into pilot scale and successfully scaling them up to production, ensuring a first time-right approach to scalability. Working closely with the theoretical formulation team and the production department, this role plays a critical part in supporting the growth of our softgel business in Germany. This position is based in Pritzwalk, Germany, where our production site is located.
The Role/Responsibilities:
* Conducting laboratory experiments and coordinating, running, and assessing pilot-scale trials for transfer to production
* Optimization of existing formulations to improve process capability
* Creation of manufacturing instructions for new products and maintenance of existing instructions within the current portfolio
* Supporting the customer offer process through theoretical product development
* Creation, editing, adaptation, and approval of batch-related documents
* Planning, organization, execution, and documentation of development projects through production readiness
* Review and evaluation of supplier specifications for raw materials
Profile/Requirements:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Biochemistry, Applied Life Sciences, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Food Engineering, Food Management, or a related discipline
* Relevant experience in the food supplement, pharmaceutical, and/or food industries
* Strong problem-solving mindset and motivation to contribute to innovation and continuous improvement
* Experience in nutraceutical formulations
* Experience in soft gelatin capsule production is an advantage
* Proficient in MS Office applications as well as ERP and CRM systems
* Highly precise, conscientious, and systematic approach to work
* Independent, responsible, and reliable working style
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Confident in presenting technical updates to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
* Fluency in German and English are required; any other European language is a plus
* Ability to travel when required
