Student assistant (m/f/d) in laser functionalization of thin films and sensor technology

Aachen
Studentenjob
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft
Assistant
Inserat online seit: 22 August
Beschreibung

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing swords against the dark side of the Force, but often our developments sound like science fiction. We shape the technologies and processes for the future of digital production, packaging and scanning technology, and many other laser-based applications, such as 3D printing and laser fusion. Are you looking for an exciting position as a student assistant (m/f/d) that changes the future? Then become part of our #OneTeam.

In the Thin Film Processing group, we develop processes for laser functionalization of thin films. We optimize material properties such as conductivity, adhesion, and impermeability through methods like sintering, crystallization, and melting. One focus of our research is printed electronics, where we produce the layers themselves using digital printing processes. Currently, we are working on the additive manufacturing of printed sensors (contactless, digital, and targeted application of thin films on substrates). If you want to be part of an innovative team and are interested in helping shape the technologies of tomorrow, you are in the right place! The position takes place on-site in Aachen – seize the opportunity to contribute your ideas and work with us on groundbreaking solutions.

What you will do

* You will be responsible for the preparation and execution of experiments
* Additionally, you will take care of the careful preparation of samples in the chemistry laboratory
* Operating class 4 lasers will be part of your tasks – while doing so, you will gain valuable practical experience in laser technology
* You will be involved in the production of conductive thin films using inkjet and aerosoljet printers
* Additionally, the laser-based transfer of layers using the LIFT process is part of your responsibilities
* Lastly, you will analyze samples and document the results.

What you bring to the table

* You are studying electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, or a comparable field
* You bring a careful, structured, and independent work style as well as motivation towards technical questions and research
* Initial practical experience in the laboratory is desirable
* Knowledge or experience in laser technology, electronics, micro- and nanomaterials, and CNC machines is beneficial
* A basic understanding of programming or a programming language is desirable, along with experience with Python or other software for data analysis.

What you can expect

👥 Team spirit: Creative, interdisciplinary environment with a motivated team, flat hierarchies and a “you” culture.
🖥 Workplace: Excellent machinery and equipment as well as first-class office facilities.
💪 Co-creation: Practice-oriented final thesis in an innovative applied research environment.
🧘‍♀️ Work-life balance: Benefit from flexible working hours on a trust basis.
➕ Advantages: Opportunity to benefit from exciting corporate benefits.
🚐 Travel: Good transport connections, parking spaces directly in front of the institute, an e-charging station and a parking garage.

The remuneration is based on the overall company agreement regarding the employment of assistants. The weekly working hours amount to 12 hours and will be individually agreed upon in the interview. The position is initially limited to 12 months; a longer-term student assistant position is aimed for.

We value and promote the diversity of competencies of our employees and therefore welcome all applications – regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, worldview, disability, as well as sexual orientation and identity. Severely disabled individuals are given preference if equally qualified.

Interested? We look forward to your application and to getting to know you!
