Contracts Manager – Data Centre Construction (Frankfurt, Germany)
As a Contracts Manager on a high-profile data centre construction project in Frankfurt, you will play a critical role in the delivery of a large-scale, technically advanced facility. Your primary responsibility will be to safeguard the project through proactive contract management, ensuring that commercial and contractual risks are identified, mitigated, and resolved efficiently. You will drive contract strategy across all phases—from greenfield to commissioning—ensuring alignment with international best practices and local German regulations.
About the Project and Team
You will join a multidisciplinary, international construction team delivering one of Germany's most advanced data centre developments. Working closely with colleagues in Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, and Program Management, you will ensure seamless execution of all contractual elements. Additionally, you will lead a team of Contract Specialists on site, supporting the entire contract lifecycle in a fast-paced and highly technical environment.
Your Responsibilities
* Lead the contract management function throughout the entire construction phase of the data centre project
* Manage contracts with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, with a particular focus on EPCM or FIDIC-based agreements common in data centre delivery
* Facilitate kick-off and regular progress meetings with internal teams and external contractors
* Ensure compliance with contract terms, German construction law (VOB/B), and international standards
* Evaluate monthly progress claims and contractor variation submissions, ensuring accuracy and fair settlement
* Draft contractual notices and correspondence in collaboration with Legal, Insurance, Procurement, and PMO
* Provide strategic advice on potential disruptions or claims and recommend preventative or corrective actions
* Track and report on contract performance, variations, claims, and lessons learned using contract administration tools
* Support in negotiating change orders, extensions of time, and resolution of disputes, if needed
Your Profile
* Master’s degree in Law, Engineering, Business Administration, or similar; a certification in Contracts or Claims Management (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, RICS) is a strong plus
* Several years of experience managing construction contracts on large-scale projects, preferably in data centres, high-tech, or mission-critical infrastructure
* Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and/or German construction contracts (VOB/B) is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of risk management in a high-value, schedule-sensitive construction environment
* Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills—comfortable working with international clients, contractors, and internal teams
* High attention to detail, structured thinking, and a proactive mindset
* Fluent in English (required); German language skills are a significant advantage
