Your mission
* You will develop the software architecture for our automated battery recycling plant - not a brownfield retrofit, but a modern, software-defined solution with industrial IoT and edge computing.
* You take industrial data streams, sensors and machines to a new level: from connection, e.g. via OPC UA/MQTT, to local data processing with containers.
* You set standards for smart, scalable industrial applications - from firmware to visualisation.
* You are a bridge builder between OT and IT: you understand production processes and can talk to electricians as well as data scientists or cloud architects.
* You play an active role in shaping things - greenfield, not a legacy brake. Your solutions shape how we think about industrial automation in the future.
* You work closely with experts from IT, OT and production - no silos, but real team play. Plenty of creative freedom and direct influence on industrial digitalisation at cylib are guaranteed.
* You take on technical leadership in the field of industrial software - from architecture decisions to implementation.
Your profile
* You have several years of professional experience in Industrial IoT, Edge Computing or Industry 4.0 - ideally in the process industry (e.g. automotive, chemicals, energy).
* You have sound programming skills in at least one high-level language, e.g. Python (data processing), C/C++ (real-time), SQL (analytics).
* You are experienced in working with Git, Linux and containers.
* You are familiar with industrial protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT and have already integrated sensors, gateways or SCADA systems.
* You are not a theorist, but have a proven track record of implementing projects in an industrial environment - and know that real-time is not just a marketing term.
* You have a software-first mindset, find pragmatic solutions and can explain complex systems in an understandable way.
* You work hands-on, are open to new ideas and are ready to take on responsibility in a team - typical of a start-up, with a focus on long-term solutions.
* You are fluent in written and spoken German and English.
* You bring flexibility and adaptability and are willing to work in our office in Dormagen and Aachen.

About us
cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.
Our process
The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.
cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.
