Skyeton is a Ukrainian-born unmanned aerial systems manufacturer with a 20-year legacy. Among other platforms, it develops long-endurance unmanned aircraft systems for defence and security missions. Our flagship platform Raybird is recognized as one of the best-in-class systems in its category.
Our engineering team works at the edge of what is physically achievable — advancing aerodynamics, guidance, navigation, control, onboard computation and AI-assisted autonomy to enable persistent, reliable operations in demanding environments.
Role
We are looking for a Workshop Manager to oversee the setup and day-to-day operations of the workshop, supporting the build, integration and testing of prototype and pre-production systems. You will play a key role in establishing the workshop from the ground up, optimizing its layout, workflows, tooling and operational processes.
You will act as the central link between engineering and production, ensuring that design data is effectively translated into physical hardware.
The role requires strong hands-on technical experience across mechanical, electrical and integration domains, combined with the ability to organize work, manage resources and maintain high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Workshop Setup: Define and implement the workshop setup from scratch, including layout, workflows, workstations, tooling, jigs and test infrastructure.
* Workshop Operations: Manage workshop activities related to prototyping, assembly and testing of UAV systems and subsystems.
* Production Planning: Plan and allocate work packages, define schedules and ensure timely execution of tasks.
* Engineering Interface: Translate engineering designs into production data, supporting build activities and redlining where necessary.
* Integration & Assembly: Oversee assembly of mechanical, electrical and electromechanical systems, including top-level integration.
* Manufacturing Processes: Supervise machining, composite manufacturing, wiring and electronic assembly activities.
* Tool & Equipment Management: Define, procure, qualify, maintain and calibrate tools, jigs and test rigs required for production and testing.
* Testing & Validation: Monitor and support testing activities, including troubleshooting and system verification.
* Material & Stock Management: Manage inventory, order parts and materials according to specifications and ensure proper storage.
* Team Leadership: Instruct, coordinate and support workshop personnel (initially with external services and gradually in the future with permanent team members), including training and qualification of staff.
* Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including handling of hazardous materials, batteries and fuels.
Requirements
* Education / Background: Technical background in mechanical, electrical, aerospace or related field.
* Workshop Experience: Strong hands-on experience in workshop environments, ideally in aerospace, automotive or similar industries.
* Manufacturing Skills: 5 years of experience with machining, composite manufacturing, additive manufacturing.
* Integration Experience: Experience with electromechanical assembly and system integration.
* Testing & Troubleshooting: Ability to support testing and resolve technical issues during build and integration phases.
* Planning & Organization: Ability to plan work, manage schedules and coordinate resources effectively.
* Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety, handling of hazardous materials and workshop best practices.
* Language: Fluency in both English and German is required.
Preferred Requirements (good to have)
* Aerospace / UAV: Experience with UAVs, model aircraft or aerospace systems.
* Engines & Power Systems: Experience handling combustion or electric propulsion systems.
* Certifications:
* Driver’s license (up to 3.5t; higher categories a plus)
* Safety training (e.g. Safety Representative or equivalent)
* Handling of dangerous goods
* Forklift operation certification
* Tooling & Fixtures: Experience defining and setting up jigs, fixtures and test rigs.
