YOUR TEAM
To support our Networking Technologie team, we are currently looking for a working student. In your role you get first-hand experience in Test setup and conformance testing in Ethernet LAB and will be an integral part of the team that works on this topic.
The Ethernet components used in modern automotive networks—particularly Ethernet switches—play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and Quality of Service (QoS) of end to end Ethernet communication. Therefore, these switches must comply not only with industry standards such as IEEE and Open Alliance but also with the VW Group’s internal requirements defined in the QLAHs (technology specific performance specifications). Ensuring this conformance requires performing defined test procedures as well as developing new test methods, for example to determine the most suitable switch configuration for a given E³ architecture.
However, using unreliable network components or applying incorrect network configurations can lead to severe vehicle malfunctions. To support comprehensive testing of Ethernet switches and end to end communication paths within any E³ architecture, the Ethernet LAB provides dedicated hardware featuring 16 Ethernet ports supporting five different data rates—100 Mbit/s, 1 Gbit/s, 2.5 Gbit/s, 5 Gbit/s, and 10 Gbit/s—and four additional 10 Mbit/s ports for 10Base T1S technology. This test setup covers all current and future automotive Ethernet technologies and enables validation of any automotive Ethernet switch.
YOUR TEAM
* Support in developing strategies for reliable evaluation of Ethernet switch conformance and quality, as well as determining suitable switch configurations to achieve the required QoS levels (e.g., per connection latency and ECU interrupt load) in in vehicle networks
* Configuring the test center to enable remote access, multi-user operation, and parallel testing of multiple devices.
* Developing switch configuration files in accordance with the QLAH “Ethernet MAC” for Ethernet switches used in current E³ architectures
* Implementing and executing test cases, including configuration of the test environment and verification of switch configuration conformance
WHO YOU ARE
* Enrolled student in the area of electrical engineering, information technology, computer science or similar
* Programming Skills (Java, C++, Phyton))
* Knowledge of protocols (Layer 2 Forwarding, IP, TCP, UDP)
* Basic knowledge of protocol testing
* Basic knowledge of machine learning and AI, analytical skills
