Operations Manager Role Overview
As an experienced Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing yard operations, ensuring seamless coordination with Dock, Receive and Ship teams to maintain FIFO processing and mitigate CX impact risks. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the efficient flow of trucks within the yard, guaranteeing timely arrival and departure while maintaining optimal safety standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in transportation operations, demonstrate exceptional program management skills, and showcase outstanding communication abilities. They will also have the capacity to influence change at both local and global levels.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with site leadership to enhance On-time Performance of trucks entering and exiting yards, along with Safety and Customer Experience metrics.
* Facilitate effective communication among multiple stakeholders to streamline truck flow within the yard, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
* Accountable for reporting yard performance to local site leadership, identifying root causes for structural issues, and driving resolutions with various stakeholders.
* Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives, implementing Lean tools to optimize efficiency.
* Operate within dynamic time constraints to meet critical business needs, measuring and analyzing performed activities.
* Able to work flexible weekend shifts as required (this team provides tactical support to Amazon's fulfillment network 7 days a week).
Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
* A completed Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or 2+ years of experience working in Amazon operations.
* Proficiency in MS Office, specifically intermediate Excel and basic SQL or Access knowledge.
* Experience in performance metric analysis, data-driven decision making, and leading process improvements.
* Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
* Candidates must be adaptable to work varying hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
* Fluency in English is mandatory, with proficiency in one additional language such as French, Polish, German, Italian, or Spanish advantageous.
