Hauptaufgaben Air Conditioning Equipment: In accordance with (IAW) the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and the Chemicals Climate Protection Ordinance, only as a certified technician (Zertifikat nach Kategorie I), recovers, installs, maintains, and services stationary refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems, and heat pumps with less than 3 kilograms (5t CO2 equivalent or hermetically sealed systems less than 6 kg (10t CO2 equivalent) of fluorinated greenhouse gases. Assures the air temperature, humidity, and quality of the system is regulated to the desired values. Calculates the necessary equipment and components for the various systems; installs measuring and control devices, and initiates system performance tests. Upon malfunctions, inspects systems and performs required adjustments, repairs, and maintenance work. Conducts daily, weekly and monthly operational tasks on major HVAC systems, such as checking water purification supplies to cooling towers, cleanliness of filters, functionality of condense water pumps, etc. Checks for leaks, recovers, installs, maintains, repairs, decommissions and services refrigeration systems, as well as, heat pumps with fluorinated greenhouse gases or on hermetically sealed systems of fluorinated greenhouse gases, and without interfering with the refrigerant circuit. Recognizes the cause of faulty equipment and makes repairs in large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, filtering and circulating. Performs work on air conditioning equipment independently. Extensively refers to technical manuals and test and diagnostic procedures/instructions issued by US manufacturers and military hand-outs. Traces and locates defects to determine the type and extent of repair needed. Plans the work, selects the proper tools and testing devices, and accomplishes repairs according to accepted trade practices. Locates and corrects electrical troubles on hot water, oil fired units, and auxiliary equipment. Calibrates thermostat and air-stat and replaces electrodes, transformer and project relay. Installs, repairs, overhauls, alters, rebuilds, and adjusts commercial kitchen equipment, such as electric ranges, fryers steam tables, disposers, dishwashers, meat and bread slicers, bone and meat cutters, potato peelers, and other electricity operated equipment used in dining facilities, cafeterias, clubs, etc. As technical expert, supports management in planning, coordinating, and accomplishing activities concerning the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of a variety of facilities. Provides input for service contract specifications. Evaluates contractor's performance against contractual requirements. Inspects completed services and notifies supervisor of violations and deficiencies noted, particularly in the areas of schedule, cost, and technical performance adequacy in the field of air condition, ventilation, and heat (electrical-electronic controls). First responder for over 2000 HVAC units. For units under contract, determines if work can be performed in-house or if work needs to be executed by the contractor. Forwards recommendation to Contract Officer Representative (COR). Performs spot check quality assurance, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance performed by the contractor.
