Job description
Your responsibilities include:
1. Conducting life cycle assessments (LCAs) for battery recycling processes with low material value (RENOVATE)
2. Comparing primary raw materials and recycled materials from a sustainability perspective
3. Developing a toxicity screening approach for battery materials and cell systems at an early TRL stage
4. Validating the toxicity screening and linking it to EU Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) requirements
5. Developing and testing methods for sustainability assessment/screening at early TRL stages, incorporating the MCDA approach and considering raw material criticality, costs, carbon footprint, and toxicological aspects
6. Performing life cycle assessments (LCA), also prospective LCA of new battery materials
7. Preparing and coordinating interim and final reports for research projects

Personal qualification
You have:
8. A completed university degree (Master’s) in engineering, natural sciences or environmental sciences, with a completed PhD
9. Several years of experience in sustainability, life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle costing (LCC), and social LCA (S-LCA)
10. Initial experience in assessing toxicological aspects
11. Knowledge of energy technologies, chemical processes, raw material extraction, battery recycling, and toxicology
