Senior Expert Instrumental Analytics – Chemist / Food Chemist

About us: Our client is an independent testing laboratory accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018, located in Germany. The company specialize in chemical, physical and microbiological analysis in the fields of food, water and environmental testing. With modern analytical instrumentation and decades of experience, they support industry, trade, regulatory authorities and consumers with reliable laboratory services. Due to increasing analytical demand, our client is looking for a highly experienced and hands-on expert in instrumental analytics who can join our laboratory team as soon as possible.
Your Responsibilities
Instrumental Analysis
* Independent execution and evaluation of complex analytical measurements using GC, LC, HPLC, GC–MS and LC–MS.
* Analysis of samples in food and environmental testing (e.g. residues, contaminants, nutrients).
* Evaluation, interpretation and documentation of analytical results.
Method Development & Validation
* Development, optimization and validation of practical analytical methods.
* Preparation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and analytical protocols.
Quality Assurance & Accreditation
* Ensuring compliance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
* Acting as technical expert during accreditation audits, including direct communication with auditors.
* Supporting audit preparation, documentation and follow-up.
* Conducting root cause analysis and troubleshooting within the quality management system.
Technical Support & Knowledge Transfer
* Technical support for laboratory technicians, trainees and scientific staff.
* Conducting internal training sessions in instrumental analytics, method validation and quality assurance.
* Technical exchange with customers regarding specific analytical requirements.
Your Profile
We are specifically looking for a highly experienced laboratory practitioner who can contribute immediately.
Required qualifications:
* Degree in Chemistry, Food Chemistry or a comparable scientific discipline.
* Several years of practical laboratory experience in instrumental analytics.
* Extensive hands-on experience with GC, LC, HPLC, GC–MS and LC–MS.
* Proven experience in food and/or environmental analysis.
* Strong expertise in method development, validation and analytical troubleshooting.
Mandatory:
* Practical experience in laboratories accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, including confident participation in accreditation audits.
* Hands-on mentality – a pragmatic practitioner with strong laboratory experience.
* Structured and precise working style with strong problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication skills and ability to support and train laboratory staff.
* Language skills: Ideally very good German and very good English for professional communication in the laboratory and with clients.
Important: This role requires an experienced expert with solid laboratory practice.
Entry-level candidates or purely academic profiles without extensive practical experience are not suitable for this position.
