Job Description
The position of Head of Commercial Finance involves leading and developing a high-performing Commercial Finance team and playing a key role within the EMEA Finance Leadership Group. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Senior Leadership to provide strategic financial insights that drive profitable growth and support business planning. This role is central to shaping investment decisions, enhancing commercial efficiency, and enabling revenue growth across the region. Additionally, you will develop talent within the finance function and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities include:
* Partnering with Sales & Marketing to assess profitability, challenge assumptions, and drive growth and margin improvement
* Leading commercial performance reviews, identifying risks and opportunities across markets and channels
* Supporting retail negotiations and strategic business cases for product launches and investments
* Leading, coaching, and developing a team of Commercial Finance professionals
* Overseeing financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, including business reviews for senior leadership
* Driving Revenue Growth Management initiatives, optimizing trade terms, pricing, and promotional strategies
* Championing digital finance transformation through automation and process simplification
* Ensuring robust governance, accurate trade spend accruals, and audit readiness
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
This role requires individuals who dare to be different and challenge the status quo, with a willingness to roll up their sleeves. To succeed, you should have:
* 8–12 years of experience in Commercial Finance or FP&A within FMCG or retail
* Excellent analytical skills, data literacy, and experience working with large data sets and financial modeling
* A proven track record in leading teams and managing people
* Experience in business partnering with senior stakeholders, influencing, storytelling, and managing complexity across regions
* Proficiency in Excel, SAP (or Oracle), and BI tools (Power BI or Tableau)
* Experience with planning tools such as Pigment is a plus
* Solid understanding of the German market and language skills
