What you will do:
1. Design and develop smart solutions for orthopedic and Trauma applications
2. Drive design excellence and innovation
3. Collaborate with cross-functional team to lead technical aspects of projects through the new product development process
4. Create detailed technical product specifications and assess functionality for compliance with design requirements
5. Coordinate/manage and oversee project efforts and risks
6. Lead technical aspects of program pipeline
7. Train and mentor (junior) engineers
Key responsibilities include:
8. Drive designs and the selection of platform technologies
9. Coordinate/manage the implementation of innovative and state-of-the-art technologies
10. Work independently with surgeon customers in a user setting, clearly communicate design goals, drive design decisions and incorporate feedback into designs
11. Understand costumer needs and independently develop and establish complex design solutions including modeling, prototyping, technical specification, test planning and execution and design documentation
12. Perform holistic problem analysis, design and implement solutions to address identified problems
13. Specialize in various technology domains and evaluate new technologies
14. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in order to recognize and anticipate industry trends and user needs
15. Ensure compliance with the relevant requirements in cooperation with other engineering disciplines
16. Maintain and improve engineering methods and practices
17. Train and mentor regarding established engineering best practices, design principles, processes and tools
18. Work with cross-functional team to determine project schedules and time commitments of self and other team members and be able to clearly communicate status of assignments to project management
What You will Need:
Required:
19. Bachelor's degree in science, prefer Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, prefer Masters Degree in a technical discipline
20. 5+ years of product design experience
21. Demonstrated efficient leadership of technical work groups
22. Experience leading complex product development initiatives from concept through release
23. Experience with a parametric CAD design package. Prefer ProE
24. Demonstrated understanding of product design including technical calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), GD&T and its application
25. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and influence a broad cross functional audience
26. Demonstrated ability to mentor and educate individuals or small groups as well as multiple project teams to ensure that best design practices and standards are met
Preferred:
27. Experience in the regulated medical device industry or equivalent
28. Experience in the clinical and performance requirements of orthopedic implants
