We are looking for a skilled and proactive Financial Controller / Accountant to contribute to the accuracy, timeliness, and improvement of financial processes and reporting. This role will collaborate closely with team members handling key accounting functions and play a central role in coordinating the month-end closing process, supporting audits, and enhancing financial reporting practices, including both stand-alone and consolidated financial statements.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
* Coordinate and support timely month-end closing activities across entities.
* Prepare and review stand-alone and consolidated financial statements within Central Europe, ensuring consistency with IFRS and applicable standards.
* Drive continuous improvements in financial reporting methodologies and internal processes.
Accounting Operations
o Oversee and contribute to core accounting processes, including:
* AR/AP management and reconciliations
* General ledger bookings and adjustments
* Accruals for EPC projects, SG&A, warranties, PoC and other key areas
* Payroll and intercompany postings
* Fixed asset and leasing asset management (IFRS 16)
* Internal order settlements and recurring entries
* Intercompany and third parties accounts reconciliation
o Support balance sheet cleansing and ensure accurate financial positioning.
SAP Process Support
o Ensure proper execution of SAP processes including:
* Payment runs and bank clearing
* Business partner creation and maintenance
* Invoice posting, credit card handover, and open balance tracking
o Monitor the entries and provide process continuity when needed.
Analysis & Reporting
o Provide regular and ad-hoc financial reports, including:
* AR aging, AP summaries, interest and SHL postings
* CEO weekly AR/AP/WIP report preparation
* Sales and COGS postings
o Deliver insights from data to support business decisions and operational efficiency.
Audit & Compliance
o Support HGB audit preparation and responses.
o Ensure the ledgers follow IFRS standards and internal procedures
o Maintain documentation (preparation and improvement of manuals and procedures) and contribute to a strong internal control environment. Constantly improve the existing processes.
Automation
o Automation of reports and processes.
Team Collaboration
o Act as a knowledge resource and point of coordination within the finance team, ensuring continuity and shared understanding of accounting policies, especially during absence coverage and peak periods.
o Provide input and support to ongoing development and optimization of accounting tasks and responsibilities.
Handle occasional ad hoc tasks to support evolving business and finance needs
Requirements
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
* ACCA or equivalent certification preferred.
* 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting.
* Strong understanding of IFRS, especially related to leasing, project accounting and consolidations.
* Experience in a project-based business, real estate or private equity funds or similar is an advantage.
* Experience with SAP and advanced Excel skills required.
* Proactive, structured and collaborative working style with strong analytical thinking and hands-on mentality.
* Fluent English, German B2 level and above.
* Knowledge of consolidation of many legal entities as an advantage
* Understanding how to treat basic company transactions and their bookings in PL and BS (Dr, Cr thinking).
* Ability to explain easily accounting issues and accounting treatment to the team
