What to expect
Digital transformation is changing the way we develop software. AI-powered development environments and code assistants, such as GitHub Copilot, promise to increase productivity and improve the quality of code. However, what impact do these tools have on the fundamental problem-solving skills of software developers?
In this research project, you will investigate the cognitive and practical impact of AI support on software developers. The focus will be on how the ability to analyse and solve problems independently changes through the use of AI assistants.
Your tasks
Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, you will
* design and implement a measurement system for the relevant measures
* conduct a controlled study with software developers
* analyze and evaluate the raw experimental data
Your profile
* enrollment in a degree program such as Computer Science, Human Factors, or similar
* sound knowledge about software engineering (processes)
* knowledge in empirical research and statistical analysis
