About your role:
* Research and GAP Analysis between current and upcoming data and analysis workflows for the High-Luminosity LHC
* Collaboration with domain scientists from the field of High Energy and Astro-Particle Physics
* Development and prototyping a distributed dCache across multiple German universities and High Performance Computing centres
* Developing extensions to the RESTful-APl to allow the LHC experiments to control the locality of data
* Analysis of the network topology and security between the distributed storage sites
* Perform large scale performance tests using scientific workloads with colleagues from LHC experiments at DESY and German remote sites
* Providing user support for the dCache software technology and DESY dCache customers

About you:
* University master degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or equivalent
* Excellent knowledge working with Linux platforms
* Very good knowledge in Java and Python software development on Linux
* Good understanding of data analysis tools
* Good understanding of distributed and federated systems
* Experience with distributed computing and storage systems
* Good spoken and written command of the English language
* Team player with good communication skills
