Job Description
1. Development of new steel reinforcement materials (metal cords, fabrics, ropes) for ContiTech products, with focus on conveyor belts (worldwide responsibility)
2. Development of steel based composite technologies (reinforced rubber, plastics)
3. Definition of technical specifications and requirements for our suppliers
4. Support serial introduction of new reinforcements and products thereof, including sampling, lab testing/evaluation, manufacturing, product testing
5. Provide Materials science expertise, drive knowledge sharing, and support in problem-solving
6. Part of central R&D and first contact for ContiTech worldwide for the area of responsibility
7. Initiate and lead cross-functional projects
8. Maintain our technology leadership, drive sustainability & innovation
9. Identify and implement optimization potentials
10. Drive activities to improve and standardize procedures as a part of a lean and agile organization
11. Close cooperation with Purchasing, Process and Product Development, Testing labs
Qualifications
12. Academic degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or similar qualification
13. Experience in development of metal cords, yarns, fabrics
14. Experience in development of reinforced rubber or composites materials
15. Knowledge in testing methods for rubber, composites, fabrics/cords
16. Strong analytical skills - problem solving, decision making, data classification, examination of correlations, etc.
17. Strong customer-oriented thinking, ownership, and collaboration skills
18. Sense of urgency in completing projects on time and effectively
19. Intercultural fluency
20. Project management experience
21. Fluent English and German language skills
