WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change. Serving as a broker between WFP and the private sector, WFP’s Private Partnerships and Fundraising Division (PPF) strives to mobilize funding, technical assistance, innovative solutions and visibility and awareness to help WFP fulfil its mission, while offering companies and the wider public the opportunity to contribute to a world with zero hunger. ShareTheMeal is WFP’s fundraising and awareness-raising app. Free to download, the award-winning app is a pioneering way for people to join our efforts in creating a world with zero hunger. ShareTheMeal was launched in 2015 as the first pilot of WFP’s Innovation Accelerator, which among other things supports start-ups and innovators in developing their ideas for zero hunger. ShareTheMeal currently has more than 9.3 million users worldwide, who have shared more than 160 million meals (US$ 100 million). WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving, and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy going forward. The team, located in Berlin and also remotely, is focused on increasing the funds raised to help get to zero hunger by further developing the app to include new and innovative features, increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives. As the user base has grown, there is a significant opportunity to increase funds raised from existing users and deliver an exceptional experience to build a long-term relationship with each supporter. ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Consultant, reporting to the Head of Marketing of ShareTheMeal, is expected to: 1. Define brand marketing strategy, incl. social media and other influencers & ambassador, to support the growth needs of ShareTheMeal, including geographies, partners, and multiple causes. 2. Ensure brand is clearly articulated and differentiated from other similar offerings, to enable quality donor acquisition and conversion. 3. Set and deliver on OKRs for brand marketing in support of the strategy 4. Develop an annual marketing campaign plan, with the Head of Marketing 5. Prepare and lead on the execution of global marketing campaigns a. Devise campaign purpose, structure media plan and key deliverables b. Define LTA contracts required to support future growth and drive RFP process to acquire such agencies b. Drive relationships with existing and new agencies (briefing, feedback, etc.) and other stakeholders to amplify results of marketing campaigns c. Work closely with Copywriter & Content Editor and Design to create effective assets for campaigns d. Take on budget ownership for marketing campaigns, incl. Tracking and reporting. e. Research digital donation related best-practices by relevant players in the non-profit and mobile ecosystem f. Evaluate impact of campaigns 6. Coordinate the development of a brand book for the ShareTheMeal initiative a. Work with Content and Design and other stakeholders to deliver a brand book for the ShareTheMeal initiative of WFP which works for all functions (UX, Marketing, Content) b. Liaise with relevant internal teams to ensure brand book is in line with overall WFP branding guidance 7. Prepare briefings for creative content development for marketing campaigns, different media channels including digital ads, TV, etc. a. Build relationships with production houses to create pro-bono content b. Turn data into ideas, test creative concepts c. Benchmarking and reviewing artwork performance metrics, analyzing winning trends, and determining a path for better creatives 8. Lead a small team of brand marketing consultants 9. Prepare regular updates, evaluation, and learnings on marketing activities. 10. Support other activities as required DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT: • A differentiated STM brand is clearly articulated (tone of voice, positioning, target audience, ambassadors) • Brand book materials are prepared and finalized in line with WFP standards. • Key campaigns are prepared and executed in a timely manner and to high quality standards • Impact of the campaigns is measured and documented • Contributions to content and marketing activations in German and English QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education: Bachelor’s degree in communication or related field, Master’s degree is preferred Experience: At least 4 years of relevant national or international experience in marketing, brand management or communications, work experience with non-profit brand management is a strong advantage.
