We Say HI*
Radar Signal Processing and Algorithm Engineer (m/f/d)
Thales is a global leader in cutting-edge technologies for defense, aerospace, cybersecurity, and digital identity.
In Ditzingen, you will find security solutions for monitoring and securing borders and border controls, protecting civilian and military facilities, as well as for tactical communications. This is the right place for you if you want to work with us on operational, highly mobile radars for land and coastal surveillance or on night vision goggles and multifunctional thermal imaging devices. Become part of the Thales expert team for radars, optronic vision systems for armored military vehicles, or securing Bundeswehr field camps. We look forward to having you on board!
Your mission as "Radar Signal Processing and Algorithm Engineer (m/f/d)":
1. Design, implement, and refine radar signal processing algorithms, including clutter suppression, detection, target tracking, classification, and micro-Doppler analysis.
2. Enhance and adapt existing algorithms for robust, real-time performance on embedded or low-power platforms.
3. Develop theory-driven test procedures ensuring comprehensive IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification), supporting solid verification of system performance.
4. Validate algorithms against both simulated and real-world data, systematically improving performance based on analysis of field results.
5. Collaborate closely with IVVQ, systems, and software teams to ensure high-quality, reliable algorithm deployment.
6. Support development of hardware-in-the-loop testing capability to accelerate algorithm validation in real-world scenarios
What we look forward to:
7. Solid foundation in digital signal processing and radar principles, with emphasis on pulsed-Doppler and MTI techniques.
8. Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for signal processing algorithm development and analysis.
9. Knowledge of clutter suppression, advanced detection theory, tracking, classification, or micro-Doppler processing is a strong plus.
10. Ability to validate and refine algorithms using simulation tools and field data.
11. ‘Whiteboard’-style technical communication and teamwork skills.
12. Non-negotiable willingness to learn new things and push the envelope.
