The Head of Unit (f/m/d) Data Management is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining and executing the company's data strategy. This leader will drive the transformation towards a modern, cloud-based, and product-oriented data ecosystem that enables data-driven decision-making, operational efficiency, and new business opportunities. The new team member will foster a culture of data excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
Your tasks:
* Developing and championing the overall data and analytics vision, strategy, and roadmap, aligned with business objectives
* Driving the modernization of the data platform (including the migration to GCP and the adoption of new paradigms) and staying tuned about industry trends and emerging technologies in data & analytics
* Establishing and enforcing a comprehensive and compliant data governance framework
* Ensuring robust data ingestion, data transformation, and data quality control processes
* Partnering with business leaders to understand their needs and to identify opportunities for leveraging data and analytics
* Strengthening collaboration between IT and application development teams to ensure seamless data integration and API adoption
* Building, leading, developing and mentoring a high-performing team in a product organization including budget and resource allocation
* Fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation for the topics of data & analytics
* Communication of the value of data initiatives and progress to executive leadership equally as promotion of the use of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI where applicable
* Encouraging experimentation and adoption of best practices
Your skills:
* Proven experience in leading and managing data and analytics teams
* Strong understanding of modern data architectures, cloud platforms (GCP preferred), data warehousing, data lakes, and BI tools
* Experience with data governance, data quality management, and metadata management
* Familiarity with API-first strategies and data integration patterns
* Experience with agile methodologies and product-oriented development
* Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
* Experience in managing transitions from legacy data environments
* Excellent language skills in English, German would be a plus
